Ages 4-6
Children first designed houses in their journals using templates made from recycled packaging. After they were exposed to Jackson Pollock and his painting style they came up to large boxes, leaned over, and splattered 3 tempera colors with a brush onto paper at bottom. Next class they placed the same templates on back of paper, traced, then cut them out. Purple paper strips were 'large wooden beams' that could be used to support the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd floors, the roof, or become a pillar. Last they drew in windows and other details. They had a blast while creating their architecture.
